Kochi – A Glimpse of History and Culture Kerala adventure began with a flight into Kochi, a city steeped in history. I checked into a charming homestay in Fort Kochi, a historic neighborhood that once witnessed the footsteps of explorers, traders, and colonial powers. The iconic Chinese Fishing Nets, a relic of Chinese influence, greeted me as I strolled along the tranquil Fort Kochi Beach at sunset.
The area’s narrow streets were adorned with colorful colonial-era buildings, art galleries, and quaint cafes. A visit to the Mattancherry Palace, also known as the Dutch Palace, provided insights into Kerala’s royal history. Its stunning murals showcased scenes from the Ramayana and other ancient Indian epics.
Munnar – The Tea-Clad Hills Leaving the coastal charm of Kochi behind, I embarked on a scenic drive to Munnar, a hill station located in the Western Ghats. Munnar is renowned for its rolling tea plantations, misty hills, and cool climate. A tour of a tea plantation and factory offered a firsthand look at the tea-making process, from plucking the tender tea leaves to the aromatic brew in a teacup.
The picturesque landscapes, with neatly manicured tea bushes, were a treat for the eyes and the camera. An excursion to Eravikulam National Park introduced me to the Nilgiri Tahr, an endangered mountain goat species, and the lush Anamudi Peak, the highest point in South India.

Kovalam – Golden Sands and Farewell – Kerala adventure came to a close in Kovalam, another coastal gem. Kovalam’s golden sandy beaches and clear waters were ideal for swimming and sunbathing. The iconic Lighthouse Beach and Hawa Beach were the perfect places to unwind and soak in the sun.
